Building Inspector (Repairs)

We’re looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to join a housing team delivering a high-quality responsive repairs service. This is a great opportunity to step into a varied, site-based role where your technical expertise will support tenants, improve homes, and keep contractors on track.
Key Responsibilities:

Carry out pre- and post-inspections on responsive repairs, ensuring work is completed to contract and safety standards

Diagnose complex issues such as damp and mould, ensuring effective solutions are identified

Inspect housing stock (including leasehold properties), specify required works, and prepare detailed reports

Conduct Stock Condition Surveys, HHSRS assessments, and Fire Risk Assessments where required

Manage disrepair cases and advise the Repairs Manager of contractor performance or issues

Oversee aids and adaptations, liaising with OTs and managing related grant claims

Ensure all work complies with health and safety, risk assessments, and CDM regulations
What You’ll Need:

A relevant building qualification or substantial experience in building maintenance/surveying

Strong understanding of responsive repairs, inspection processes, and contractor management
-
Working knowledge of Schedule of Rates, SCSs, HHSRS, and health & safety regulations

Experience preparing technical reports, specifications, and managing disrepair or adaptation cases

Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset

Full UK Driving Licence and access to a business-insured vehicle
Desirable Experience:

Understanding of Section 20 consultation processes

Experience with housing IT systems and reporting tools

Knowledge of fire risk assessments
